Foster High's Marshall Wins Rudy Award

January 20, 2012
Foster High School senior Addison Marshall is the winner of the 2012 High School Rudy Award. Marshall was featured in the January 15 edition of Parade Magazine. Marshall will be the recipient of a $7,500 college scholarship.

School Board Appreciation Month

January 17, 2012
January is School Board Recognition Month which is a great time to focus on the crucial role an elected board of trustees plays in our community and schools. They are extraordinary people who voluntarily tackle the enormous job of governing our LCISD district. We want to take this time to show that as a district and a community we appreciate all they do all year long. Thank you for your service!

Velasquez Nominated for National Blue Ribbon

January 12, 2012
Lamar CISD’s Velasquez Elementary is a nominee in the 2012 Blue Ribbon Schools Program. Texas Education Commissioner Robert Scott made the announcement Tuesday. The award honors schools across the nation for academic excellence and for significant progress in closing the achievement gap.

Foster’s Beltz Earns Third Best in Show

January 12, 2012
For the third straight year, Foster High’s Christy Beltz took home top honors at the Lamar CISD Art Show. Her painting, “In Perfect Sync,” now goes for judging at the Houston livestock show and rodeo. Kim Henry is Beltz’s art teacher at Foster High School.
