Meyer > Gifted & Talented > GTHome > Special Projects Grades 1-3

Our unit for Grades 1-3 this year focuses on Countries and Cultures around the world. We will be "visiting" many countries to learn about their geography and climate, traditions, holidays, animals, food, and art. The students are always SO excited to "travel" to a new country!
In our unit on Sweden, we learned about the Nobel Peace Prize. In that spirit, we are nominating friends (or ourselves!) for a "Meyer Peace Prize." Click this link to see the video:

We also studied the Taj Mahal and its symmetrical architecture, then designed our own symmetrical buildings:

The students really loved our lesson on Pablo Picasso when we visited Spain. We experimented with a little Cubism ourselves on the website Picassohead! Here are some of their works of art!
